Menthol cigarettes due to be banned in the UK
A ban on menthol cigarettes is due to be introduced on 20th May 2020, as a part of the EU Tobacco Products directive. Menthol and dual cigarettes make up approximately 25% of UK cigarettes sales.
As part of the directive, a transitional period of 4 years was allowed, so that retailers could sell existing stock, and so that consumers could be made aware; however, many UK consumers are unaware of the incoming ban.
At Mentholyzer, we believe in the consumer's right to choose flavoured products, we are committed to ensuring that UK smokers have safe, legal alternatives to illicit menthol cigarettes.
